Join photographer Ian Adams for a hands-on Photography Walk and experience the gardens and grounds of Stan Hywet like never before. Offered on Sunday, May 31, and Sunday, October 25 from 2:00–4:00 p.m., this guided program invites guests to explore the estate while learning how to elevate their photography skills.
Adams shares that while anyone can take snapshots with a smartphone, great photography comes from understanding lighting, composition, exposure, sharpness, and depth-of-field. Throughout the walk, he will provide practical tips for capturing landscapes and nature using both smartphones and digital cameras, along with suggestions for helpful apps that offer additional creative control. Please note that Adams is most familiar with iPhone technology, but all devices are welcome.
Participants must bring their own smartphone, digital camera, and/or camera equipment. The program is open to adults and youth ages 15 and older. Each Photography Walk date requires separate registration, and capacity is limited to 25 participants per date to ensure a personalized experience.
Guests should plan to arrive 20 minutes early to check in with Adams before the walk begins. Registration will close at the program start time on each date.
Whether you’re just getting started or looking to sharpen your skills, this Photography Walk is a perfect opportunity to learn, explore, and capture the beauty of Stan Hywet in every season.
